Probably endemic. There is still some doubt as to whether S. lautus is in Australia or not

Easy from fresh seed. An annual which makes a very attractive display when in full flower. Rather variable and some forms, particularly those with large capitula found around the South Wellington coastline could be an ideal native annual selection for an annual flower bed
