Distribution

Endemic. North Island, central mountains only. South Island fromnelson along Main Divide to Fiordland, rare in the east. Stewart Island.

Habitat

Montane to alpine but present in lowlands in the southern part of its range, usually in cushion or peat bogs

Very easy from fresh seed and division of whole plants but dislikes humidity, and will not flower without cold treatment
