Taxonomic Notes
The familial relationships of Samolus are unclear. The genus has variously been placed in the monotypic family Samolaceae, a broadened circumscription of Theophrastaceae, and Primulaceae. Here we follow the treatment in APG III, which recognises a broadened circumscription of Primulaceae that includes Theophrastaceae and Samolaceae.
