Brief Description

In cultivation becomes a massive tree with very smooth, distinctive orange or pink trunk when bark has been newly shed. It fades to pale grey in winter. Leaves in opposite pairs (cf. most Eucalyptus spp.), The flowers have many white stamens, 5 small white petals (Eucalyptus has none), 5 'teeth' representing the sepals and the cup-like base has 5 raised ribs running down from the sepals to the flower stalk (pedicel).
