Features

The cap is plano-convex to applanate and 3–5.5 cm in diameter. It is dry, finely felted, golden yellow, apricot or occasionally reddish orange with an entire margin. The hymenophore tubes are up to 3mm long, slightly excavated around apex of stalk, adnate or subdecurrent, and dull red. The pores are concolorous with the tubes, irregularly angular, 0.5–1 mm in diameter, and often radially elongated near apex of the stalk. The stalk is 2–3.5 cm long, more or less equal, and 5–8 mm in diameter. It is solid, fibrous, dry, concolorous with cap or with a general reddish colouration, pale yellow at extreme apex. The flesh is pale reddish brown. The spores are short elliptical to ovate-elliptical, 7.2–9 x 4.2–5.2 µm, and smooth. The basidia are hyaline, clavate, 32–45 x 8–10 µm, and 4-spored. Clamp connections are absent. The context of the cap is sordid pale fawn to yellowish fawn, unchanging on exposure to air. Taste and smell are not distinctive.
