Features

The cylindrical fruit bodies are erumpent from rotten wood. They are up to 15 x 10 mm and branched from the base. They are bright golden yellow to ochraceous yellow, but with age the base becomes rusty orange. They arise from sheets of flattened rhizomorphic strands that are of identical colours where exposed to the air, but are white where the strands are within wood. The apices of the fruit bodies are either awl-shaped or minutely dichotomous. There is a negligible odour, but they taste bitter. The spores are 8.3–9.7 x 5.0–5.8 µm, ellipsoid to ovate, and somewhat flattened adaxially. The spore wall is minutely roughened, up to 0.3 µm thick medially, thinner apically.

The single known specimen of this fungus was collected in May.

Found on well rotten wood of Nothofagus sp.
