  1. Leptospermum scoparium

  2. Photo is of erect aerial roots of a cultivated specimen of manuka sourced from Opuatia wetland (Meremere ED). There is a dried leaf on the ground giving some indication of scale There is no mention of these structures in Flora of New Zealand V1. Are they confined to the Waikato "wetland" form or more widely found?

  3. No photo loaded up Wayne - but yes such structures have been reported from members of Leptospermum scoparium complex from wetlands in the South Island as well. I cannot remember the literature but it was Peter Wardle, Allan Mark or Colin Burrows who wrote about them. I have seen them in the "Wakato Peat Bog" race at Opuatia, Whangamarino, Kopouatai and Hinehopu Mires.

  4. Thanks Peter I will do my best to supply the photo for the website collection
