  2. I spotted this growing at my grandparents Bach in hahei in the Coromandel while weeding what is it

  3. Sorry photo seems not to have posted for some reason so here it is

  4. Here's the other plant

  5. Hi Ben. can you add the photo? It needs to be less than 500kb to load
    Thanks from Astrid

  6. My guesses - the first photo some type of exotic lily species and the second plant possibly tree privet http://www.nzpcn.org.nz/flora_details.aspx?ID=3419

  7. I don't think its tree privet as its leaves don't drop at all also its been there a couple of years and has stayed less then 0.3 meters tall

  8. Top image is Lilium. The second looks to me like a privet as well but not 100% sure

  9. I suggest a Hemerocallis (so-called day lily)for the 'lily'. Not all privets are trees; the foliage in your photo looks rather like 'common privet' (Ligustrum vulgare) which has furry shoots too. It's not Chinese privet because it's leaves have plane edges, not undulate. It's still used as a hedge plant. The Flora of NZ Vol.4 says it is deciduous but in mild climates in NZ it seems to be only partially deciduous. Colin
