  1. Drosera capensis

  2. Can someone please inform on the status of Drosera capensis in New Zealand. All I have is hear say about prohibition. How is it identified from other sundew species.

  3. Have you reviewed the factsheet? http://www.nzpcn.org.nz/flora_details.aspx?ID=4596. It seems to answer your questions.

  4. The flowers are dark pink or mauve, the leaves are narrowly lanceolate (not divided), up to 100 mm long (usually less) and covered in red glandular (sticky) hairs. You could only confuse it with D. binata which has white flowers and forked (bifid or quadrifid) leaves or D. arcturi which is much smaller, and has white flowers. This website has good images of D. binata and D. arcturi but the ones of D. capensis lack flowers.
