  1. Colobanthus seeds

  2. I am looking for a source of seeds for any representative of genus Colobanthus. I am a researcher from University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn, Poland. We are interested in biodiversity as well as phylogenetic studies on genus Colobanthus.
So far our research group collected the material representing Colobanthus quitensis, C. apetalus and C. lycopodoides, all originated from South America or maritime Antarctic. Together with our partners from Department of Antarctic Biology, Institute of Biochemistry and Biophysics Polish Academy of Sciences Warsaw, Poland and Labolatorio de Biotecnología y Estudios Ambientales, Departamento de Ciencia y Tecnología Vegetal, Universidad de Concepción, Campus Los Angeles, Chile we are interested in application of molecular markers and DNA sequencing (Illumina) in biodiversity and phylogeographic studies.
We offer scientific cooperation in described above topics.

  3. My suggestion is that you try communicating with Dr Rob Smissen ([email protected]) - he 'may' be able to help you. Dr Barry Sneddon formerly of Victoria, University of Wellington, was revising Colobanthus but to date nothing much has come from that 30+ year study. Rob did his PhD on Scleranthus and knows a little about Colobanthus here. So try him.
