  1. Washingtonia robusta

  2. 9 of these are growing below my house on a neighbors property. I am concerned they are a high risk fire hazard as spending many years in Central America I have experience fires with a similar species first hand. Once alight they are unstoppable! Not only a fire hazard I am sure they harbor rats and possibly other pests.. Another neigbour has spoken to the land owner about these and he refuses to even trim them. We are located in Ruakaka. Would you recommend I contact the Whangarei District Council? Or is there another entity we should contact? TIA for your input.

  3. Hello - NZPCN is concerned with the protection of indigenous plants and does not have the resources to answer your question about these exotic species. I suggest you make contact with your District Council or Regional Council to raise your concerns.
