  1. Brachyglottis kirkii var. angustior, Brachyglottis kirkii var. angustior, and putative hybrids

  2. kia ora NZPCNers,
we (my 3rd year undergraduate, a research associate of the ERI, and, I) are currently studying these taxa from a genetic and morphological perspective. We would welcome recent, pressed vouchers of these species so that we can study the morphology and extract DNA from them. Please also contact us if you know of any populations within the "greater" Waikato region (Waitakere to Taupo). Many thanks!!!

Rangitoto Island is the key to your problem as there is an extensive introgressed hybrid swarm there (or so Frank Newhook concluded). Otherwise Aotea (Great Barrier Island) is worth studying - as Peter Heenan and I found soem interesting problems there which is why so far neither he or I have elevated '"angustior" to species rank (which is probably merited).

    Ciao

  4. Thank you so very much! These would be great sites if she continues for her MSc, if DOC would be happy with this of course.

  5. I know Pieter Pelser at Canterbury University is particularly interested in Senecioneae and has a bunch of Brachyglottis specimens he has collected from around New Zealand. I'm not sure if he has any B. kirkii and friends, but worth contacting him to find out: [email protected]
    Good luck with your research

  6. Thanks very much Jesse! I will get in touch with Pieter asap.
