  1. Mystery plant

  2. This was growing at about 1300ft in short grassland near the top of Belmont Hill near Wellington. I would appreciate an id please.

  3. Hi Pat,
I'm no expert but my guess is that its a Lagenifera species, due to its tiny size and very small flowers (tiny ray florets). But it doesn't look like any species I've seen. I'm presuming its a native?

  4. Hi Pat - I also think it's in that closely related group of that includes Lagenifera, Abrotanella and the exotic Solenogyne.

  5. Thanks Guys.

Forgot about solenogyne. S. gunnii looks close. I will see what CHR have to say and post the result

  6. Yes, please do share what it comes back as, we'd love to hear (and put the image up on the relevant factsheet too of course!). Cheers

  7. Your plant Pat IS Solenogyne gunnii which is abundant in the Wellington region - I learned it from my time living in Tawa where it is a very common lawn and verge turf weed.
