    Photos of second mystery geranium attached. No idea what this one might be.

    From this image I am fairly confident your plant is Geranium gardneri which I described as a new species in 2005. As I said earlier the only other option is G. homeanum which does have hair cover like your image shows, and typically smells of carrots or parsnips when crushed. Geranium gardneri is introduced, G. homeanum is indigenous.

    Many thanks again. It's looking like this one will have to be pulled out too! I'll check for smell when I'm working from home tomorrow, but the hairiness suggests that it is your gardneri.

    Sure - but as geranium go this one's not a bad weed - nothing like G. molle. In fact it seems to declining around Auckland.

    But if I pull it out I'll have more room for Weeds of National Importance like Sonchus kirkii and Picris burbidgeae (recently acquired from Oratia Nursery and just planted out)....

    True - and why not Senecio scaberulus?
