  1. PIttosporum fasciculatum

  2. Does anyone have a photo of this species? I found a number of what I think might be P. fasciculatum in Tongariro National Park on Sunday. My specimen went brown within an hour, before I had a chance to take a photo.

  3. Hi - Pittosporum fasciculatum is not generally accepted as a valid species anymore (I certainly don't think its a good species). Although Allan (1961) accepted it, Cooper (1956) treated it as part of what he called Pittosporum tenuifolium subsp. colensoi (here treated as P. colensoi) - and I tend to follow his work (if not always his subspecies). Dr Chrissen Gemmill (University of Waikato) has been looking at New Zealand Pittosporum for a long time now, and maybe if she reads this email she may be able to offer more comments - P. tenuifolium and P. colensoi form a variable complex. If not her email is [email protected] - you could try and ask her about this species.
