  2. my totara has gone all brown,shifted it from the hutt valley to dunedin in may , it was in a huge pot ,was ok in pot but put into soil in the back section seemed to take all right but the last month it has slowly turned brown ...have i watered it to much?and if i cut it back and take all the leaves off !!,,,,

Hi Trish, I don't think anyone can really say what has happened to your totara (loading up images may help) - perhaps it got drought stressed, or as you suggest over watered, and then succumbed to phytophthora. As I said for the titoki query made by another forum writer - perhaps the best solution is take some decent images of your plant and send those to a nursery that specialises in the cultivation of native plants. You could ask Tom Myers at the Dunedin Botanic Gardens - he may have some ideas. Either way I doubt, from what you describe, that your totara is going to make it.
