  1. Celmisia graminifolia moved to Northland

  2. Today I went to check on the spelling of a plant I once knew as Celmisia graminifolia - 30 cm linear leaves, not inrolled, felted underneath, from a montane flush at Porters Pass - and to my surprise plants of that name are now confined to the Whangarei Heads. Have I missed something?

  3. Hi Alice - did you read the notes on taxonomy at the end of the species description. There's a good explanation of the "mess" that is C. graminifolia.

  4. Errr....I only scrolled as far as "Where to Buy" and didn't notice the answer to my question after that!
Any clues as to how to describe the southern entity on species lists?

  5. The matter is not easily answered beyond that Celmisia needs a modern revision. Celmisia graminifolia has had a confused history and the type - which I have on loan from Kew - has added more confusion. Suffice to say the plant you mention may or may not have a name but whatever it is it is not likely to be C. graminifolia s.s.

  6. Thank you Peter - I really appreciate the time you take to reply to questions on this forum and keep us up-to-date with the latest taxonomic changes and issues.
