Probably - there are three forms - one has a slender racemes borne on a sparingly branched inflorescence, another has a heavily branched inflorescence which short broad racemes, and then there is another form which is jokingly known as Persicaria "giant"on account of its massive size (up to 2 m tall), which seems to fit within the current concept of this species as well - though some people have suggested this race is a hybrid (but if so what with? And why does it occur in stable populations that come true from seed?). Research into this variation is needed.
