  1. propagation of Streblus banksii by cuttings

  2. we are trying to propagate from cuttings as a lot of trees are isolated so not much chance of viable seed.
Has any one any ideas of best time of year, type of cuttings and best medium.
we are working on trees in the Wellington region

  3. It can be done. I had success with semi-dardwood cuttings in a mist propagator - but that was a very long time ago (1987). Try talking to any plant propagator. Geoff Davidson ([email protected]) at Oratia Native Plant Nursery may be worth emailing.

  4. I meant "semi-hardwood" of course...

  5. Works fine, I had success on Stephens Is. with just overhead watering in coarse sand. It's a long time ago so I couldn't tell you if I used hormone or not but I would have set it up as a trial and left notes in the propagation book there. As Peter says, semi-hardwood, no additional wounding and cut just below a node, probably taken about now. good luck.
