  1. Dracophyllum ID please

  2. Mt Bee 2nd pic
    Close up

  3. Probably Dracophyllum rosmarinifolium (Flora I this is called D. uniflorum) - but for Dracophyllum identification purposes you really need to photograph the leaf sheaths, inflorescences as well ad the general growth habit. Other, South Island botanists may be able to offer a better opinion than me.

  4. I would suppose D. rosmarinifolium also, but almost cannot be certain without seeing material as the Eyre Mts area has the potential for unusual species

  5. That first photo suggests to me there are plants of D. pronum in the mix and we could be looking at a hybrid swarm between it and D. rosmarinifolium.

  6. Thanks all.I'll photograph the leaf sheaths and inflorescences of this plant later on in the year.
    Cheers Dave.

  7. The flower arrangement and a closeup of an individual flower is the key but also a photo of the entire leaf (a dead fallen off one is fine) next to a ruler is very useful. Dracophyllum as a genus is prone to hybridisation as John notes and the resulting hybrids can have a range of characters from both of the parent species. Eyres is definitely worth exploring botanically. I'm aware of a new species of sedge up there and I suspect Myosotis glabrescens is also present
