This plant was on a dry sunny clay bank in an open coastal condition North Taranaki just south of Mokau. This prostrate plant was hanging done the bank. The upper branches were >2cm in diameter.
Hi Phil, could it be Pimelea carnosa? the densely hairy young stems, fleshy glaucus leaves, distribution in the Waitomo District and pendent habit on a bank seem to fit. http://www.nzpcn.org.nz/flora_details.aspx?ID=2394
Hi Phil, Jesse is probably correct. Pimelea carnosa seems likely that or one of the subspecies of P. prostrata. I want you that they are not easy to key out - but the descriptions in the NZPCN fact sheets should help.
P. carnosa is pretty frequent along Taranaki coast. Likely this
