  2. Dried specimen in Oamaru museum, from Egypt apparently.
Any clues as to genera would be most appreciated.
    Thanks

  3. This is a clubmoss of some sort (Lycopodiaceae) - I can't remember which genus now or species - but its a gimmicky item that used to be bough into N.Z. by tourists (mostly in the 1970s) before our border control got tighter (I have seen a few examples). If you wet it, it will unfurl and look more like a plant - though its well and truly dead, and when it dries it furls up again into a ball. As far as I know it comes from the USA not Africa - but I can't remember the exact details - try Dr Leon Perrie ([email protected]) at Te Papa he should know more about this.

  4. Got it - resurrection plant - genus Selaginella lepidophylla - from Arizona

  5. Check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Selaginella_lepidophylla
Note Selaginella lepidophylla is most common along the Mexican / USA border especially noted from the Chihuahuan Desert

  6. Awesome.
    Thanks
