  1. Libertia ixioides

  2. where would i get seed for this plant, i need 1000 seeds or 500 seedlings

  3. Hi

This one is potentially tricky - because you really should use ecosourced material (Libertia ixioides is nationally variable). I don't know about the South Island likely suppliers - so I am simply making suggestions here. You could start by asking the Department of Conservation Native Plant Nursery at Motukarara:

    Try: http://www.doc.govt.nz/conservation/native-plants/motukarara-conservation-nursery/buying-plants/

Otherwise make inquires to Oratia Native Plant Nursery, Oratia, West Auckland (http://www.oratianatives.co.nz) - not South Island I know but the staff there have many contacts.

Failing that try talking to Dr Dan Blanchon - who revised the New Zealand Libertia ([email protected]) he may have some suggestions.

    Ciao Peter

  4. Hi Belinda,
Try contacting Tim Le Gros at Titoki Nursery. They grow plants of Nelson and Marlborough, but I don't know whether they would have an eastern Marlborough form. As Peter says, it's really quite variable between different parts of the country (even within the space of 50km sometimes).

I think there might be a local nursery that sells eco-sourced plants in your area. It would be good to enquire with them if so.

    Motukarara's also a good suggestion.

  5. If they can't help try Miles Giller at Broadleaf Nursery 03 313 5315. He may well know where you can source seeds directly from wild plants.
