    These two flowers are found in my neighbour's garden in Nelson. Can anyone please identify what tree they are from. Flowers started mid September. Trees are spindly and over 2 metres tall.

    That shrub is Cantua buxifolia. It's a reasonably uncommon garden shrub within NZ, naturally from South America. Several colour forms of it occur.
