Can anyone identify which carex this is? We have it growing in a number of spots, mostly damp semi-shady ones. The nearest match I can find is Carex inversa.
Additional photo (a little out of focus) showing more of the colony.
Try Carex inversa a common urban Auckland lawn "weed" and also common in indigenous shrubland in that area
Sorry misread your first post (I am at a conference). Don't "try". It is C. inversa.
Many thanks. I just hesitated because all our patches of it are much smaller than what most photos suggest, though I have read that it is variable in this respect, and I've never seen it anywhere in our lawns.
All good. Come visit Mt Albert where it's very much a feature of our lawns. LOL
