    Hi Peter, can you pleae let me know if I can give this species a common name in a plan so I don't have to write the full name above. Eg Would it be okay after initially writing the full name you gave and say Cook Strait Melicytus or Cook Strait mahoe in subsequent references to the plant

    You know my view on vernaculars. Go right ahead no rules apply on your coining a common name.
