  1. Fuscospora hybrid?

  2. Saw this yesterday(8th)on the Kaitoke Ridge track near Upper Hutt.Fuscospora solandri x F.truncata has been reported from the area and was wondering if anyone has any ideas,cheers.F.fusca is also found nearby.

  3. Hi John - well as you correctly surmise that specimen is a hybrid - but based on what you present all I can suggest is that it is either F. solandri x F. fusca or F. solanrdi x F. truncata - you need to show close ups of the leaf undersides, upper surface, margins etc to make a more accurate call. Nevertheless others out there may wish to be more definitive on your image but I won't. Cheers

  4. Thanks Peter i'll try and post more photos soon, unfortunately that was the only one I took.

  5. Hi

If the tree was near the area where Carex flacca flourishes it is F. solandri x F. truncate as I have seen the tree and both putative parents are nearby. The red beech if a bit removed form that area and grows in association with kanuka according to my notes.

    Cheers

  6. Thanks Pat this is the tree you're talking about and yes the red beech is more down towards the waterworks rd end so this will be the hybrid you've recorded.
