  1. Kelleria villosa?

  2. Hello. I found this little fulla growing in an alpine ribbon bog at about 900m asl, above Lake Wapiti, Fiordland. Its not like any Kelleria I have seen in Fiordland before. It was in an area surrounded by marble and paragneiss mountains. The closest I seem to be able to get is Kelleria villosa subsp. villosa, as its to chunky to be K. dieffenbachii (plus wrong habitat) and to elongated for the other cushion species.
I'm still coming down from the botanical high that is that area!! Amazing!

  4. Hi Rowan, not sure it is K. villosa which is usually quite prostrate and quite similar to K. dieffenbachii. Kelleria multiflora, but I have never seen that species

  5. Thanks Mike. I seem to have a bit of trouble with Kelleria's. They seem to overlap in morphology quite a bit. I haven't ever seen K. mulitiflora either so not sure. I should give Geoff Rogers a buzz, as he knows the Lake Wapiti area pretty well.

  6. Yeah they are difficult. I use the key in Mark and Adams Alpine Plants as a start point, but it takes a while to get your head around some of the differences.
