I thought this tree fern was dicksonia fibrosa? Please let me know if not. thanks

It could be - but it could also be Cyathea smithii - are you able to get some close up images of the base of the stipes? If they have hairs then Dicksonia for sure, if they have scales then you have Cyathea smithii.
Also if leaves feel soft then = Cyathea and if Harsh = Dicksonia. If you took the photo near Wanaka then I would guess at Cyathea smithii
I took this in Leith Saddle Forest. at the time I thought it was (Cyathea smithii) Soft Tree Fern or Katote as there were not many leaves on the dead fronds. thanks guys
Yep Cyathea smithii is pretty common in the Leith Saddle area. Dicksonia in that area is a forest margin or stream flat species and pretty localised

Yep, Cyathea. Probably Cyathea smithii as that is the only species of the Cyathea genus in the Dunedin area
