I have been interested for a while in the idea of native species as bedding plants, and am writing an article about the subject. The principle of using our natives in such artificial templates is one more format for advocacy, and could be of benefit for establishing demand for short-lived species (like Hibiscus richardsonii).

I am also interested in the idea of using native species (particularly threatened plants) in public plantings like roundabouts - such as Muehlenbeckia astonii in Wellington.

In a couple of plant descriptions, trials at Percy Reserve and around Wellington are mentioned. Any information on specific plants that were successful from those trials (aside from Senecio radiolatus and S. sterquilinus) would be much appreciated.

Any other suggestions on the matter would also be appreciated.
