  1. Pterostylis tasmanica

  2. Please let me know if the current name Pterostylis tasmanica or Plumatichilos tasmanicum

  3. Hi Kay
As an orchid enthusiast myself I can understand your confusion, with names regularly changing. The currently recognised name for this species is definitely Pterostylis tasmanica. Both the NZPCN and the NZ Native Orchid Group have accepted this name as being correct, based on current taxonomic understanding.

  4. Both names are correct. What you need to decide is if you accept that the orchid is a Pterostylis or whether it fits into the segregate genus Plumatichilos. For a while the evidence suggested Plumatichilos was distinct but more recent, detailed DNA based research shows that this segregate genus fits within Pterostylis - so NZPCN and now Landcare Research as well have reverted back to Pterostylis.

  5. Thank you both for the clarification. Much appreciated.
