  1. Ixerba brexioides flowering and pollination

  2. Hi there,
I'm currently doing a thesis investigating the pollination mechanism of Ixerba brexioides (tawari). If anyone has any information to offer about flowering times, locations, pollination observations, or other general information about this magnificent tree I would love to hear from you!
    Thanks,
    Rachel Thomson

  3. Hi Rachel,
I remember seeing it flowering prolifically along the Waikareiti track, Urewera National Park in the second week of January. I think it was 2003.
    Cheers

  4. Hi Rachel

From memory Ixerba tends to flower from about mid December through to mid January - but, as with all things it varies and I have seen it flowering in November and February.

  5. Saw trees in full bud last week in forest near Te Wera, Matawai if that helps. Such a beautiful thing I agree.

  6. Hard to grow at our tree nursery in Matakana !
