In addition to the last question, I would also like to ask whether the Coprosma acerosa (extensive patches near the lifesaving tower) and Carex testacea in a small area of the dunes (along the northern end of the beach) are natural or planted. Attached is another image of Melicytus nz amongst the dunes.

See my previous answer - these species do occur locally on other beaches in the general area - so they may be indigenous there.
