NZIFSB Palmerston North Seed Collector Training

As a result of requests from potential collectors a second New Zealand Indigenous Flora Seed Bank (NZIFSB) seed collector training will be held at Massey University in Palmerston North later this month. Training is open to anyone who wishes to be involved in this project but will be capped at 20 people. The first day of training will be led by Mr. Craig McGill from Massey University and project leader for the New Zealand Indigenous Flora Seed Bank project. The second day of training involves an expedition into Totara Reserve to collect seeds and herbarium specimens for the seed bank. Training involves learning about the NZ Indigenous Flora Seed Bank, our protocols for collecting, and includes theoretical and practical training to become a registered seed collector. Full details are below:

  • Monday 26th May (9.00am – 4.00pm) – Tuesday 27th May 2014 (9.00am – 4.00pm)
  • AgHort Building B, 3.02C - access from Riddet Road off University Avenue, Massey University Manawatu Campus (please also see the attached Manawatu Campus Map).
  • Please bring your lunch, or food can be purchased from one of the cafés or kiosks on campus.
  • No charge.
