Senior Editor sought for New Zealand Journal of Botany

Expressions of interest are sought for the role of Senior Editor, New Zealand Journal of Botany published by the Royal Society of New Zealand.
About the role – The Senior Editor is responsible for ensuring that the journal is an independent primary journal which disseminates the results of research carried out by the scientific community.
Duties include: assessing newly submitted manuscripts for the journal; assigning papers to the Associate Editor team who handle the review process; resolving any disputes, providing input to journal strategy and policy to ensure that an ethical publishing process is adhered to; and promoting the journal at national and international conferences.
Who can apply – senior, active researchers with the ability to reach out to the journal’s author and reader community both domestically and internationally.
Requirements – strategic thinker, strong leadership skills, excellent communication skills, tact and diplomacy, broad knowledge base, organisational and computer skills sufficient to deal with an e-based manuscript tracking system.

Note – the successful candidate will be expected to attend an editorial strategy meeting in Wellington on 24 September 2014.
